Spiral ring splint (2 joints) 5027

Code 5027

Purpose:

To limit the ‘range of motion’ (ROM) of the finger at the desired angle (both frontal and sagittal plane).

Adjusting:

  • To put on the spiral ring splint (SRS) you screw it around the finger. This ensures that the ring engages properly and keeps soft tissue in place.
  • The positioning of the SRS around the finger, in regards desired limitation of movement, is dependent on the fulcrum analysis.
  • For example, if the splint needs to hinder flexion in the PIP, it is important that the spiral lies dorsally at the level of the PIP.
  • The length of the splint can be shortened or lengthened by pushing the proximal and distal ends of the splint towards each other, or by pulling them apart.
