Simone’s Story: From Limitations to Movement with Silversplints

In a small Frisian village near Leeuwarden lives Simone Stroet: 38 years young, full of positivity, and surrounded by love – from her partner Steven, two dogs, two cats, and her passion for a healthy lifestyle. Despite multiple chronic illnesses and being declared fully unfit for work (IVA), Simone keeps moving. “I choose to approach life with a positive attitude,” she says. “My vegetable garden and organic roadside stand are good for my body and mind. And our dogs make sure I move every day.”

The struggle with pain
The road to movement wasn’t easy for Simone. She suffered for years from severe hand pain, tendon inflammations, and hyperextension of her fingers and wrists. “The rigid braces I had actually limited my freedom,” she shares. “I could barely grab anything without pain.”

A search for freedom
Her search for a solution started online. Through her rheumatology nurse specialist, she ended up at the hand and wrist therapy center in Sneek, where OTNN fitted her with Silversplints. “From the very first moment, I felt relief… true relief. Much less pain, and I can pick things up again without sharp stings.”

More than just functional
What Simone particularly appreciates is that her Silversplints are not just functional. “They’re also just beautiful to look at. A real piece of jewelry that helps me every day and gives me confidence.” Her fine motor skills have significantly improved, and the tendon inflammations have decreased considerably.

Simone’s golden tip
“Keep communicating with your orthopaedic technologist if your Silversplints don’t feel right anymore,” she emphasizes. “They really think along with you!”
