Partner Story | Michael Keane on Using Silversplints in Hand Therapy
01 May 2025

Kicking off Hypermobility Month 🦓
As we begin Hypermobility Month this May, we’re proud to introduce one of our newest Silver Certified Partners in the UK: Michael Keane, Clinical Specialist Hand Therapist (OT) and founder of M&A Therapies. With many years of experience in both the NHS and private practice, Michael brings a deep passion for hand and wrist care to every client he sees.
“I’ve always enjoyed working with hands and wrists,” he says. “It’s the constant need to problem-solve and think creatively that keeps me inspired. Every case is different, and that challenge is what makes the job so rewarding.”
Michael first discovered Silversplints at the British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT) conference, where a colleague encouraged him to explore becoming a Silver Certified UK partner.

“The quality of the products stood out right away,” Michael says. “And the team at We Design Silversplints has a really strong ethos and eye for detail. I felt that offering Silversplints in my practice would add real value to the care I provide.”
Michael now uses Silversplints to support clients with a range of conditions, including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, joint hypermobility, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis. He finds that where thermoplastic splints offer a good temporary solution, Silversplints often become a long-term support tool.
“I always like to experience things myself before recommending them to others. I wore an Anti Swan-neck Silversplint for a few weeks and found it light, comfortable, and effective. That’s exactly the kind of feedback I hear from clients as well.”
One memorable case involved a woman with a connective tissue disorder that was causing her index finger to deviate. The joint was still passively correctable but had been painful for two years. Michael fitted her with an anti-deviation splint.
“She reported a big reduction in pain. And beyond that, she started getting compliments on her hands again. She told me she feels proud to show them in public now.”
Michael actively recommends Silversplints to fellow therapists, both in the NHS and in private practice.
“If you’re looking for a lightweight, breathable, and durable product that really helps with pain and function, Silversplints are a great solution.”
We’re excited to have Michael as part of the We Design Silversplints partner community. His clinical expertise and thoughtful approach are exactly what we value in our growing network.
